10 Dog-Friendly RV Resorts Reviewed by Deita & the Dingoes

If you’re a crazy dog mom like me, then you know your travel plans revolve around two things: your pups and the vibe. I’m talking off-leash adventures, peaceful walking trails, shady trees, clean facilities, and a place that makes both you and your four-legged co-pilots feel at home.

Whether you’re a full-time RVer or a weekend warrior, here’s a round-up of dog-friendly RV resorts we’ve personally stayed at—and rated—across Florida and the East Coast. Grab your leash, a few treats, and let’s dive into some dog-mom-approved stays.

1. Orlando/Kissimmee KOA Holiday – 6.5/10

📍2644 Happy Camper Pl, Kissimmee, FL 34746

🗓️ Stayed: Jan 19–21, 2024

Check it out here & book your stay!

If you’re looking to stay near all the Disney chaos, this KOA is convenient—but it definitely has more of an urban campground feel. Clean restrooms, a basic gym, and friendly staff. However, the sites are tight and there’s nowhere great to walk your dogs. No outdoor vibes here, but it’ll do in a pinch.

🔥 Dog Mom Tip: Bring your own fire pit just in case—they’re not at every site!

2. Sweet Citrus Acres RV Resort – 10/10

📍3995 N Turkey Oak Dr, Crystal River, FL 34428

🗓️ Stayed: Feb 16–19, 2024, April 4-6, 2025

Book the perfect getaway, close to the manatees!

This brand new gem in Crystal River was a dream. Think sparkling clean private bathrooms, pickleball courts, a barn-style clubhouse with a bar, big TVs, and an incredible vibe. The dog amenities were A++—with two fenced parks and a private trail around a 7-acre spring-fed pond. Minutes from Three Sisters Springs, Hunter Springs, downtown Crystal River & the Crystal River Archaeological State Park.

🔥 Dog Mom Tip: Don’t miss the community fire pit by the pond, and check for food trucks on weekends!

3. Sun Retreats Homosassa River – 7/10

📍100200 W Fishbowl Dr, Homosassa, FL 34448

🗓️ Stayed: Mar 15–17, 2024

Book this park if you want a more ‘Old Florida’ vibe!

The mature landscaping and putting course were lovely, but overall, this resort felt a bit tired. There’s no dog park, limited shower stalls, and the clubhouse was underwhelming. Proximity to springs is a plus, though—and it’s a quiet place to spend the night.

🔥 Dog Mom Tip: Skip if dog park space is a must for your pup. We loved having a campfire on the water, and also paddling the Homosassa River. Minutes from the springs.

4. RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads – 7/10

📍Exit 171 off I-95, Roanoke Rapids, NC

🗓️ Stayed: July 13, 2024

This is perfect for traveling from FL to PA or anywhere up north. Book for your summer travels.

An affordable and peaceful stop right off I-95, but you’d never guess it’s so close to the highway. Clean facilities, a cute little pool, fire rings, picnic tables, and the friendliest staff.

🔥 Dog Mom Tip: It’s basic but quiet—perfect for a calm night’s rest after a long day of driving with your pup.

5. Whippoorwill Campground – 8/10

📍810 Route US 9, Marmora, NJ

🗓️ Stayed: July 22–26, 2024

The perfect place for when visiting the Jersey Shore! Book here for your summer fun!

This one was cozy, quiet, and tucked into beautiful trees—ideal for a low-key camping vibe. The sand was a bit much (think dirty paws!), but the privacy and peace made up for it. Rained most of the time, so we didn’t get to explore all the amenities, but we’d come back.

🔥 Dog Mom Tip: Bring extra towels & dry dog shampoo if you’ve got sand-sensitive pups!

6. Fayetteville RV Resort & Cottages – 8/10

📍6250 Wade-Stedman Rd, Wade, NC 28395

🗓️ Stayed: July 26, 2024

Book our favorite place to stop on the trip to and from PA!

This place is dog mom heaven. Two big fenced dog parks, awesome walking trails, a modern gym, and complimentary waffles on Saturdays (yes please!). The vibe was fun and friendly, and it’s a perfect pit stop between NJ and Florida.

🔥 Dog Mom Tip: Check the event calendar before you go—there’s often fun stuff happening!

7. Big Tree RV Park – 4.5/10

📍5221 Dunn Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32218

🗓️ Stayed: July 27, 2024

Book here if you are looking for somewhere super affordable and quiet in Jacksonville.

Okay… this one’s just a place to sleep. No amenities, no charm, and not much for your dog to do. But for $60, it’s a quick overnight stop with clean bathrooms and nice people.

🔥 Dog Mom Tip: Only book if you’re passing through and need a last-minute place to park for the night.

8. Fort de Soto 10/10

📍3500 Pinellas Bayway S #2528, Tierra Verde, FL 33715

🗓️ Stayed: February 21-23, 2025 (RV); March 6, 2025 (tent); March 17, 2025 (tent)

This place is AMAZING! And books up fast! Pinellas County residents can book 7 months in advance, others can book 6 months in advance. Check it out here.

Our FAVORITE place in our own backyard. The waterfront sites are our favorite! This is perfect for both RV stays OR tent camping with your pups. It is super safe, the staff is amazing and you get to access the full Fort de Soto Park with your stay which includes two large fenced dog parks, an off-leash dog beach, an awesome Fort and hiking trails you can walk with your pup (on the leash), a place to launch kayaks or paddleboards (with a trail) and other beautiful beaches you can relax at (when your pup is pooped out from all your adventures).

🔥 Dog Mom Tip: Bring your own fire pit to help with the bugs, even though we didn’t have any issues I have heard they can get bad. Also make sure you have a copy of your pup’s rabies, they are sticklers are there are a ton of raccoons (although we haven’t seen any yet).

9. Linger Lodge RV Park – 8/10

📍7116 85th St Ct E, Bradenton, FL 34202

🗓️ Stayed: April 24-26, 2025

Looking for Old Florida in the middle of it all? Book now!

This place was so much fun! We loved the community areas that had a huge fire pit by the water, a great dock right on site to launch your paddleboards or kayaks (although beware of alligators, we didn’t see any but they are there!), the pool area was screened in, multiple games (bocce ball, horseshoes, cornhole & more) and a large fenced in dog park, We also had a blast at the restaurant on site, with great good and live music.

🔥 Dog Mom Tip: Bring bug spray especially for the evenings, one evening we had no issues, but the other was horrible. You can also bring your own fire pit, as long as it is raised off the ground (we just brought a couple of small pavers).

10. The Resort at Canopy Oaks – 9/10

📍16950 County Road 630, Lake Wales, FL 33898

🗓️ Stayed: Thanksgiving, 2023

Book this huge resort that you won’t want to leave!

We had a blast over Thanksgiving here! We had a few different groups and loved how large the sites were. They even have sites with full outdoor kitchens! With a couple of different dog parks on site, and basically an entire village for you to explore (complete with a tiki bar with live music), you won’t need to leave.

🔥 Dog Mom Tip: Check out the goats and donkeys on property, and go explore the Bok Tower Gardens (also pet friendly, but you do have to pay to get in)

Final Thoughts: Where Should You Stay?

If you’re planning a pup-friendly RV trip through Florida and beyond, Sweet Citrus Acres is our top pick—clean, scenic, and designed with both people and pups in mind. 🧡

If you’re on a road trip and need a one-night stay that’s still welcoming for your furry co-pilot, Fayetteville RV Resort is an easy win with its walking trails and amenities.
